Melissa Higgs’ focus has been designing recreation facilities and arts and culture projects, including the award-winning West Vancouver Community Centre, Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre in Surrey and the Clayton Community Centre, which is on track to be the first Passive House community centre in North America. She is experienced with long-range-vision plans that help shape cities, including Granville Island 2040, OnWater and VanSplash, the City’s aquatic strategy.

BEST HABIT: “Family dinners.” SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE: “Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I admire her for all she accomplished, but I am in complete awe about how she did it. In the face of exhausting prejudice and relentless obstacles, she persevered.” FUN FACT: “I did my undergraduate degree in marine biology.”
